The Team
The research has been designed by a team of spinal surgeons, physiotherapists, patients, pain specialists, researchers, statisticians, and health economists from several universities and hospitals, in Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

Prof Nadine Foster
Coordinating Principal Investigator
Professor Nadine Foster is the overall lead researcher for the FORENSIC-Australia study and provides clinical and scientific leadership and oversees how the study is run across all participating sites.
Nadine is Director of The University of Queensland’s Clinical Trials Centre and an NHMRC Investigator Fellow. Nadine is a physiotherapist and international expert in musculoskeletal pain and orthopaedic research, with a track record in developing, testing, and implementing treatments and new models of care through randomised controlled trials. Nadine has published over 330 papers, been awarded over $148 million in grants for research in the UK and Australia and completed 31 randomised trials. Her focus is embedded applied clinical research developed with those with lived experience of health conditions that has positive impacts for health services, clinicians, and consumers.

Dr Angela Ching
Clinical Trials Manager
Dr Angela Ching is responsible for the day-to-day running of the FORENSIC-Australia study and is the main point of contact for study team members and study participants.
Angela is an experienced trials manager and has worked on various multi-site randomised controlled trials (complex interventions; medical devices; and advanced cell-therapy) in the UK and Australia.
